Iranian documentary ‘Parizad’ has grabbed Special Mention at the 2022 Fribourg International Film Festival (FIFF) in Switzerland.
Directed by Mehdi Imani-Shahmiri, ‘Parizad’ has a narrative framed around one of the handicrafts of Chashm Village in Iran's Semnan Province.
The film is about a lonely rural woman who weaves Golich. She shares information about the role of Golich in the daily life of the village residents and legends about her homeland.
‘Parizad’ has already been screened at a number of global events, including the Mammoth Lakes Film Festival in the US and the Festival of Nations in Australia, where it won the best documentary award.
The FIFF aims to use films as a medium for enhancing inter-cultural understanding. The event picks films that promote reflection and discussion.
This year’s edition of the fest was held on March 18-27.
